Izaki contains images full of symbolic significance, with a meaning that is more than the sum of the elements in the photograph. Within this category are grouped all the images with a transcendent significance: statues that are emblematic of a city taken form special angles, images of the hanging bridge joining both banks in the late evening light, lighthouses, architectural detail, statues charged with symbolism (the "Piene de Vientos" for example), gargoyles, chains, street name plaques that are typical of Bilbao, the Basque flag ( the Ikurriña), dolmens and other testimony to antiquity, the Marijaia mascot of the festival by the same name and the traditional "Eguzkilore" or sun flower symbol used in the Basque country.
